No, I don't. Nothing should be triggering it (other than the card
itself, right?).

I'm curious to know if you and Jeff get this when you do a "cat
/proc/asound/oss/sndstat" on your audio/synth/mixer lines. Could you
post the results to the list? That would tell me if something is wrong
on this end... Also, do either of you have devfs support on your
systems?
