The patch I posted at http://savannah.gnu.org/patch/index.php?7468 gives you 
64-bit. I wraps the funky vecLib BLAS and LAPACK to work with -m64 (and without 
-ff2c).

If you use non-apple GCC, you should have the libstdc++ in LDFLAGS, as noted in 
README.MacOS section 2.1.
