Follow-up Comment #28, bug #61017 (project octave): The Octave that you install on Windows does not only contain Octave itself but also a lot of dependencies. The version that contains "default" in its name packages newer versions of those dependencies than the ones that are used in releases. I guess an issue was fixed in one or some of those dependencies that allows it run for you. It is difficult to say which one it is though. My best guess would be it is Qt. The release version is packaged with Qt 5.14.2. The "default" version is packaged with Qt 5.15.2. I'm not sure if this will work. But if you are up to an adventure, you could try to copy all files containing `*qt*` from the `bin` folder and the entire `qt5` folder in the `mingw64` folder of the version that is working for you to the respective folders of the version that is currently not working for you. Does that "updated" version start for you? _______________________________________________________ Reply to this item at: <https://savannah.gnu.org/bugs/?61017> _______________________________________________ Message sent via Savannah https://savannah.gnu.org/
