Follow-up Comment #4, bug #60583 (project octave):

Not sure what am I doing differently, but I do not see any warnings
in that case either. 



octave:1> loglog(10)
octave:2> axis manual
octave:3> set(gca, "ticklabelinterpreter", "latex")
octave:4> print("t","-dpdflatex")



Attached are screenshot (fonts a funny because hi-res display upscales
decoration fonts, but not plot fonts) and t.tex.
