Follow-up Comment #12, bug #53124 (project octave):

Keep in mind that the user can always customize the install directory to
whatever they want, if it turns out later that there are problems. IMO, that
means the default isn't that important, and might as well be changed to be
C:\Program Files\Octave\${VERSION} now or similar.

I have recently been testing Octave in a Windows 10 VM, and I have only ever
installed it in C:\Program Files\Octave\5.2.0, and haven't run into any
problems yet related to that choice.
