Follow-up Comment #4, bug #57353 (project octave):

I was able to reproduce and to simplify. MWE is attached.

Sometimes the MWE crashes on my laptop. Sometimes not. MWE does not need any
stl file because its generating some random tube patch data itself.

What i have observed:

* Big patch data necessary
* Gouraud shading

If debug then exits with 11 at light.m line 115 when gouraud is set 

++
 set (hlist(! is_mesh), "facelighting", mode, "edgelighting", "none");
