Follow-up Comment #5, bug #57319 (project octave):

I pushed this change which fixes the issue for me:

The problem is that when we change the legend/axes units, uipanel emit
asynchronous graphics events that provoke the infinite, non-recursive,
execution of some listeners. I'll look into a better fix in the future.
