Ah, here's something else. The output of `./bootstrap` says this:


You may need to use the following Makefile variables when linking.
Use them in <program>_LDADD when linking a program, or
in <library>_a_LDFLAGS or <library>_la_LDFLAGS when linking a library.
  $(FREXPF_LIBM)
  $(FRESP_LIBM)
  [...]
  $(LTLIBTHREAD) when linking with libtool, $(LIBTHREAD) otherwise
  @INTL_MACOSX_LIBS@


And variants of all of those variables appear in GNULIB_LINK_DEPS="..." in
configure.ac around line 2700, except for "@INTL_MACOSX_LIBS@". Might be we
just need to add that in to GNULIB_LINK_DEPS. I'll play around with that, too
