Follow-up Comment #15, bug #44370 (project octave): I pushed this change: http://hg.savannah.gnu.org/hgweb/octave/rev/09ed6f7538dd I think it solves the immediate problem. Ultimately, I'd like to isolate all the HAVE_HDF5 conditionals in just a few files.
