nano still needs the ability to autogenerate the HTML versions of the
manpages, since without it "make dist" and "make distcheck" won't work. 
I've made an attempt at this using Jordi's code from awhile back
(, and
also had to modify the in doc/man/fr in order to make sure
that the French translation was actually included in the "make dist"
generated tarball.

With this applied, "make dist" and "make distcheck" seem to work fine on
my box, except in one case.  The "make distcleancheck" part of "make
distcheck" fails when calling texi2dvi (from texinfo 4.5).  According to
the error message, "tex" as called in line 581 of texi2dvi isn't in my
path.  I tried installing TeX and adding a symlink so that tex was in my
path, but it still didn't work, so it appears to be a texi2dvi bug
rather than a bug in nano's build scripts.  Does "make distcheck" work
on anyone else's box?
