I am running a personal mediagoblin instance and decided to try an update.

During update, I had the following problems:

- - merging master into my v0.7.1 with little changes reported a merge
conflict in .gitignore, which is quite easy to fix.

- - bootstrap.sh && ./configure && make :

Skipping mediagoblin/i18n/jbo/mediagoblin.po which pybabel can't
compile :(
error: mediagoblin/i18n/ca/mediagoblin.po:399: positional format
placeholders are unbalanced
Skipping mediagoblin/i18n/templates/en/mediagoblin.po which pybabel
can't compile :(

- - ./bin/gmg dbupdate

Yay, here the real fun started. Gstreamer...

First of all "./bin/gmg dbupdate" could not find "gi", this problem
was easily solved by "./bin/pip install gi".

But "dbupdate" still did not succeed, because it wants to have
gstreamer :(

As a photo only user, this is quite frustrating, because gsreamer is
not installed on the system I use and since I have no root it’s quite
hard to get a running gstreamer version.

I tried various stuff inclusive self-compiling gst-python, which needs
gst-python (which I was not able to build), which needs gstreamer,
which needs glib, which needs another funny library. Yeah. Welcome to
the dependency hell ;-)

Am I doing something wrong or does _any_ mediagoblin installation
needs to have gstreamer 1.0 installed? this is PITA :( I also cannot
find gstreamer listed under Mediagoblin Dependencies [1]

Any suggestions, how I could run 'master' or later 'v0.8.x'?
