But it's not:
$ ./configure --with-override-dir="override_dir"
$ tree /tmp/mp/
/tmp/mp/
├── man1
│ └── man.1.gz
└── override_dir
└── man1
└── man.1.gz
$ MANPATH=/tmp/mp man -w man
/tmp/mp/man1/man.1.gz
And the same example works as expected if configured e.g. with
--with-override-dir="override".
