K is 2**10 or 1024, there cannot be ambiguity. We count in
binary last time I checked. b is bit, B is byte. Reasonable
approximation is expected from the read-eta, which works
just fine. I don't think accounting for file tables,
AU slack, and tcp/ip overhead is on the radar screen.
