lynx-dev Lynx Version 2.8.5dev.14 SPARC Solaris problem

With the above version of lynx, when I enter a textarea and attempt
to get the external editor to edit the text area, all I see is an 'e'
inserted into the text area.

Before this version, I was able to type "^V e" or "^V^V e" and get into
an external editor.

Was the interface to this changed intentionally?
