The best way to set up lynx to suit everyone is to make it configurable.
Three options I can think of:
1. Current - using minimal, insecure, annoying, etc. mail and news.
2. External - this might not take much more than providing lynx.cfg entries
for EXTERNAL invocation on mailto, news, and nntp entries.
3. Secure - in this mode, users attempting to access mailto or news/nntp
get msg indicating that site has configured these values out of
the application.
