Follow-up Comment #5, patch #7885 (project lwip):

Actually I was able to avoid mess of #ifdef-else-endif insertions. Instead,
replacements ans small additions was made with macros which are defined
conditionally (in most places). The resulting code turned out to be not so
bloated as expected.
