Exactly what do you mean by noise? Depending on what you mean there could be
more than one cause, and it may or may not be fixable in software. For example
the Openmoko had a combination of echo from mechanical transmission between
speaker and mic, buzz from electrical noise on a power supply line, and often
clipping from a poorly configured mixer. Distortion from clipping upset the
echo cancellation, so the mixer had to be set correctly before echo
cancellation would work properly. The buzz couldn't be fixed without a
soldering iron though.
