I read this differently than the other respondents. There is an option to
use the measure number as a rehearsal mark:
\set Score.markFormatter = #format-mark-box-barnumbers
So if you are entering existing music you can put a
\mark #'default \break
at every new line in the original, so that your drafts have the same line-
breaks as the original with a nice large bar number at each line.
