It depends. Look at the input:
\parallelMusic #'(voiceA voiceB voiceC voiceD) {
% Bar 1
a8 b c d |
d4 e |
c16 d e fis d e fis g |

etc.
Following "% Bar1" come four measures of input that are mapped to four
variables, one measure to each variable, in turn. That's what I'd call
"mapping four consecutive measures to four variables".
So, the example maps [every] four consecutive measures [of input] to
[a single bar that is distributed across] four variables. Missing
words in brackets could be added to avoid the unclear meaning caused
by an excessively terse wording.
