There is no "r" in that number; there is a "g" before the "xxxxxxxx".

Yes, that is normal. It should be abundantly clear that you are
running a version from git and not a regular release.
If you are not making any modifications to nano, there should be
no need to build nano from git. There is a release roughly every
month.
