I think, the -fn switch want a fontname or font_set_name, not things
like "-*-simsun-medium-r-*-*-12-*-*-*-p-*-gb2312.1980-*". The later is a
XLFD fontset pattern.
IN emacs do:
C-h i d m emacs i fontset
and you will see the fontset-related manual.
