Or more likely a bare module. I should have said module The bare chips
are rare and need added LNA, OSC, etc.

Many hackers find it easier to buy a module on a carrier board and
remove the module for their use. The Uputronics module is hardly bigger
than the chip, and a lot of the fiddly stuff, like antenna connections,
are already done well.
Any reason not to use the Upu part?
