Actually, the -f argument is already passed through strftime(3) to
insert date/time parts, so you can simplify this argument to

   -f /home/pi/trip_log_%Y-%m-%d_%H%M%S.gpx.

Please note that the next release of gpxlogger will support the option
-r to reconnect after losing the fix.
