You really do not.  Many GPS will either need a reset, or will reset 
themselves, at some time.  This will change the GPS port speed and
then you can not get the GPS back without moving it to another host.

If you use 'stty' to set the port speed before running gpsd there is
no overhead to having the autobaud.
