My interest is not so much in the FE issues, but code generation
and optimization.  I'll let other people figure out how to
implement the pragmas the OpenMP wants.  That alone will be a
significant effort,  I think.

I would encourage folks to work on branches off of the FSF
repository.  If you want to fork the compiler, that's fine, but
the integration will be a lot smoother if this happens in the
framework of a CVS branch.  I would also encourage folks to
discuss these issues on the GCC lists, unless of course you want
to fork.

As far as runtime goes, I would like us to target POSIX threads.
In particular, the new POSIX threads implementation in glibc
should be an ideal target.
