In one message, the complete output of a run was given.
It reported, if I recall correctly, not being able to find the
archive version and therefore guessing that it is an
Arch 1.0 archive.   (That's because, if I recall correctly,
the very earliest archive format lacked a version string.)

In another message, someone pointed out that NLST
messages sent to this FTP server (a) did not include
"dot files" (by default?) and (b) had some strange
pathname weirdness.

By the *letter* of the FTP standard, the MSFT server may
very well be conforming.   In terms of having been engineered
for compatibility, it's an obnoxious server.

The fix should probably take someone only a couple
of days.   It will take some research. 

My suggestion of what the best fix *probably* is
is to add support for a new url method, "msftp" or
something, and tweak the existing code to handle it.

On some unix servers, an "NLST -a" will show dot files --
perhaps MSFTs has a similar feature.   Path syntax can
*hopefully* be cleaned up in the FTP client code in arch --
if not, it may be time to give up.

It's probably also worth a quick double check to be
sure the MSFT server doesn't have some protocol
extension that flips it into a mode that makes it act
more normal.

This is not likely given the descriptions that the archive worked before and then the ftp server was switched to the Microsoft platform (assuming, from a previous Unix platform).
