Hello again, Tom!

Yes; forgive my lack of precision. You correctly respond to the point
next:
There is a feature idea that floats around on the back burner for
making it possible to declare a particular file to be of some specific
(non-diff-patchable) type.....
That's more what I was inquiring about, not so much the "native" nature
of the AppleSingle file, which is as you say.
And, perhaps not. I try to avoid visiting castles in the sky.
That's pretty funny, coming from a guy who's written a new revision
control system in the face of CVS and Subversion, and a replacement
standard C library in the face of glibc and friends, and is apparently
contemplating a new garbage collector in the face of, what, at least
half a dozen that can be downloaded? So clearly you're not opposed in
general to developing new slants on things.
Let me point out again that there's at least one CVS server
implementation that registers itself with DNS-SD,
So?
It's called an "existence proof," and so contradicts "castles in the
sky." Also, I had gotten the impression that you were attempting to
compete with CVS and so thought you might be interested in knowing that
there are CVSen that are doing this sort of thing. But of course I may
be mistaken.
I wonder whether, at various points in your interaction with people who
are trying to help you evolve arch in good faith, you realize how, at
the very least, your interloquational style impedes the process? Do you
ever wonder why it is that N people give up, fork your spec and/or
implementation, and go off on their own? Is that desirable, or even
necessary? I've made as clear as I can that I'm not demanding that this
idea be integrated into tla, and still it feels like I'm pulling teeth
to get a discussion going that isn't merely condescendingly dismissive.
If you have a substantive alternative technological suggestion to make,
I'm all ears. Else, not.
Best regards,
Paul
