To be precise: symbians (at least some of them) do support successor
of FBUS but it has the same functionality as AT. To make the picture
complete: they support also SyncML and Obex. First one can be used to
synchonize phonebook, calendar, notes/todo and perhaps SMS with a
remote side (so implicitely you can read/write them). Latter can be
used for the file transfer.

I think this is called edition not release.
