[I've forwarded this to the gnu modula-2 mailing list as it likely
pre-empts other questions].
the only change would be to install 'git' and then instead of the cvs
command you would type:
git clone git://git.savannah.nongnu.org/gm2.git
[that is if the gm2 project were to use git].

I'll try and back-port all changes from the 4.7.x branch to the 4.1.2
(certainly all the library and front end language bug fixes).
Maintaining branches is much easier on git (allegedly)
