Is there any way I could try this out, and generate a ttf file? (no matter how horrible the results may be)

Of course you can.  However, those shapes are *adapted* to the grid
for this particular PPEM value, and linear upscaling will look very
ugly.

If it were so simple you no longer would need font designers...
