Excuse me, "the rest of my system" is not clear for
the people unfamiliar with Nano-X. Do you mean the
performance of ftview and ftstring (small test programs
in ft2demos) are slow?

If possible, please check latest FreeType2 2.3.5 or 
latest CVS and give your comment. Although I understand
that there are many people using legacy FreeType 2.1.x
and some of them don't want to migrate to later, I guess
few people will invent new hack to improve legacy
FreeType2 performance.
