Hehe. Well, if someone complains, I will increase it. :-)

Yes, and it will be so forever. Similar to what Microsoft does with
its v38 rasterizer, it's necessary to maintain a compatibility mode so
that old fonts work correctly even with the increased horizontal
resolution needed for subpixel hinting.
