Nevermind, 2.1.9 also had the unpatented hinter.

It looks like http://cvs.freetype.org/cgi-
bin/viewcvs.cgi/freetype2/src/truetype/ttinterp.c.diff?r1=1.69&r2=1.70
is what fixed it.
