You might try the latest development version from the CVS.  From
valgrind's README:

  Check out the code from CVS, following the instructions at
  http://developer.kde.org/source/anoncvs.html. The 'modulename' is
  "valgrind".

I agree with you that the results are meaningless, probably due to
the missing or incomplete support of pthread.
