Just to be clear, I never said if feels
jarring. I said that IF it doesn't add
anything (and at least for me it doesn't)
then it's just noise (for me it is). Occam
says don't add noise uselessly.
I said, "IF, as for the context of my comment
[which was emacs.StackExchange], there's no
need to delimit it, THEN, well ... no need to
delimit it." [Emphasis added.]
And I said:
"(There might be good reasons / a need
for Org's noisier delimiting. Dunno.)"
My comments were not particularly about email,
which the thread seems now to be focusing on.
___
As for email: I don't use Emacs to read email.
So for me, at least, Org delimiting offers no
positive; it's just noise.
It's noise I can live with. This isn't about
me. It's about what's good for Emacs. My
point was that in contexts where it doesn't
really add anything, maybe people just use it
out of habit (dunno). And IF it doesn't add
anything THEN....
FWIW, I use Outlook for email. I have no
problem with HTML mail. There's HTML markup
under the surface, of course, but I don't see
its noise. Same with using a web browser.
And HTML markup and its rendering does have a
purpose/use.
