*phew*  Then I guess it's a combination of features or fonts,
 perhaps...  Hm...

Aha!  That build finally finished.  It only crashes with
--with-xwidgets!  So perhaps it's not related to these changes today at
all, but with some interaction beween fonts and xwidget changes from the
past couple of days?  (I think that's when I last restarted my main
Emacs.)
