It seems the person who compiled must have left this in the compiled
binary.  I don't think this is my configuration.

I don't think I understand how did you arrive at this message.  Does
it appear if you start "emacs -Q"?  If not, what needs to be done to
get this message?


If it is doing this, then it's buggy, so it would be good to understand why. I am not going it from a clean Emacs snapshot that I've just downloaded. I'm a little surprised, though, that Emacs knows about that directory at all.
