I increased it by 5K, but could you please post your data of pure[]
usage similar to what I posted here yesterday?  I think we simply
_must_ understand why on similar systems the numbers are so different
(with today's CVS, I'm still 7KB short of the limit before the 5K
increase).  I don't like solutions to problems we don't understand
well enough, it looks like kludging around the problem instead of
solving it.
