So I googled a bit and came up with the DERIVED_SRC thing, which caused
that folder to properly hide itself inside "build" as well.
This is on MacOS X 10.3 with GCC 3.3.5 (FSF) on a G4 466 with Apple's
X11 and WindowMaker etc. from Fink.
I'm running an OS X 10.3.5 box, with GNUstep-make 1.10.0 (just brought
that up since you said you hadn't yet upgraded to the latest which is
1.10.1, neither have I). And testing on a couple of my frameworks, I
see it toss everything (including the derived_src) directory into its
own build/ dir. Nothing that is created during the build process is
placed outside of the build dir.
