Dear Ian,

Thanks for the recollection. I found Eric's message and will run down the few 
suggestions contained therein. If I wasn't doing so many &*%$#! things at once 
I might have remembered it myself but that's another story.

I wondered if I wasn't experiencing compiler version issues (having experienced 
it elsewhere) and this is a real possibility. Oh well, back into the fray.
