Never mind about the margins.  Turns out my default paper size was "A4", and
that's what was causing the cut-off; i needed "letter" size.  I assume denemo
has a way to set paper size (although I haven't found it yet, amidst the
wonderful cornucopia of commands — this is by no means sarcasm; i love the
cornucopia!)
