just managed to check out the mail tag from cvs on savannah. god this 
stuff looks dated (my stuff, clearly, not anyone else's).

a quick blast at trying to compile everything indicates that there are 
*big* problems in the javax.mail.* packages. is joey lesh still present, 
or shall i fix all this?
