Did you sacrifice a fresh BD-R to it so that it got actually formatted ?

(If you already tried to get smaller spare areas with no success, then the
exact command and parameters are of few interest. Only if it succeeds
where libburn fails, it would be something to learn from.)

Note that the MD5 sums become part of the emerging ISO 9660 filesystem.
If you burn images by -as "cdrecord", then you get no checksums added.

My oldest is from 2008 and lives on a strict diet of BD-RE media.
There should be at least one newer drive for cross-checking media and for
the case that the old one goes blind one day. (Rule of thumb: The new DVD
drives for $ 15 die first. Always have one as sacrificial anode. ;-)
