Follow-up Comment #3, bug #35000 (project xboard): I have tested the git code. I doesn't work too well. Ctrl + . does go to the previus position when pressed, and back again when released. However if you don't release the . key immediately, the key will start to repeat, and the board will thus start to repeat going back and forward between the two positions. So you cannot hold the previous position for more than short moment (how long of course depending on your keyboard configuration).
