Perhaps this has want you need:

I executed "sudo errinfo -n tar > tartrace.txt"
and then ran "make check TESTSUITEFLAGS=36" with the original testsuite 
file.
After the test failed I hit Ctrl-C to stop errinfo, and attached the 
output to this email.

Please let me know if this has what you need or not.
