The known bug from 1.7 is fixed in the development version, but not in recutils 1.8; I tried submitting a patch but
1. it's uncomfortably big! nearly 2kloc, so the distro maintainers are comprehensibly hesitant about accepting it (it's big due to the additional gnulib modules)
2. it's only for ONE distribution, and I'm currently using two (because of reasons)
Is there any chance you could make a 1.8.1 release with just the rename->copy_file_preserving bugfix?
