Its Windows 98, and you are probably right. However, I fixed
my problem with a totally different solution. I needed to
export this VFAT fs to another machine using NFS, but NFS does
not export VFAT anymore in Linux 2.4. Thus, my desire to
create a ext2 partition and move all the data there.
However, I learned that I could use samba to export the system,
which I did and works nicely. Thus I do not need parted anymore.
