> Isn't autotools mandatory for GNU projects? If you look at the GNU coding standards, the requirement is to generate all the installation and distribution targets, so as long as you generate those. Section 7.1 at: https://www.gnu.org/prep/standards/standards.html#Managing-Releases explicitly mentions that you can use other build systems and make configure wrap those tools. As meson gets more familiar you probably don't even need to wrap it.
