Trouble in dual booting XP+RH9 with GRUB 0.93 |

Hi,
On my DELL P4 1.8GHz
256MB ram PC, I have two IDE disks:
Disk 0: 38GB C: XP,
D: and E: are NTFS,
Disk 1: 80GB G:
NTFS, H: NTFS, RedHat, RH Swap, free space.
I normally use XP on
the partition 1 on Disk 0.
I have just
installed RedHat 9 on the Disk 1, 3rd Partition, and
selected
Grub to be the new
bootloader.
When the RH
installation completed and rebooted, the system fails to come
up.
On the console, it
displays:
Initialising Intel
Boot Agent Version 2.2
Press Control-S to
enter into Setup Program ...GRUB
then the system
hang.
I can boot off
the RH 9 using a boot floppy it created at the last part of the RH
installation.
From
the system, I can see /boot/grub/grub.conf contains:
default=1
timeout=10
splashimage=(hd1,2)/boot/grub/splash.xpm.gz
title Red Hat Linux
(2.4.20-8)
root (hd1,2)
kernel /boot/vmlinuz-2.4.20.8 ro
root=LABEL=/ hdd=ide-scsi
initrd
/boot/initrd-2.4.20-8.img
title
WinXP
rootnoverify (hd0,0)
chainloader +1
I followed the GNU Grub manual, and have
tried
/sbin/grub-install
--recheck /dev/hdb3
and the system.map
does show all devices fd0, hda and
hdb.
No joy. I then
added makeactive, and redo grub-install, still no good.
It appears
that only stage1 is loaded, but it just cannot
continue.
Any advice from
anyone please?
PS. Please

Thanks.
