Well, that sort of helps and maybe the subject line was not clear enough.
- I still think it is a bug for "compile-all" and maybe in general
- Are you saying that configuration files contain no data and where do the
data files go?
- I was looking up examples of --with-config-path and couldn't find many
examples, however, I did find several that used what I was talking about
$(PREFIX)/...
Also, most of the FAQs say that --prefix variable is the common installation
prefix for all files

(or the architecture-independent portion of a package when it is installed

beleive agrees with my interpretation.
